No.2a Dayabao Hutong: the 20th Century Chinese Art | Fine Arts · History · Scenes

Exhibition Time: December 25, 2018 - January 23, 2019

“No.2a Dayabao Hutong: the 20th Century Chinese Art | Fine Arts · History · Scenes” will open to the public at the Guardian Art Center on December 25th, under the collaboration of the Guardian Art Center and the Li Keran Art Foundation.

This exhibition strives to present the important historical milieu of No.2a Dayabao Hutong. It features over a hundred pieces of artwork inseparably linked to its destiny, encompassing not only revered artistic pioneers known both domestically and abroad such as Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Li Keran, Li Kuchan, Ye Qianyu, Dong Xiwen, Li Ruinian, and Huang Yongyu, but also showcasing select works from the offspring of these artists.

In 2016, the Li Keran Art Foundation curated the exhibition series themed “No.2a Dayabao Hutong”, centering on this historical site as both the subject and the backdrop. This innovative exhibition in Beijing endeavored to penetrate the scene from a historical perspective, employing the contemporary space to manifest the historical setting, and reflecting on the historical figures, art, and life events at that time, hence sketching a silhouette of twentieth-century Chinese art.
