Introduction:

Tianji Yao is a pottery workshop that adheres to the traditional craftsmanship of purple clay pottery. The Studio is run by two artists: Tian Bo, a master of arts and crafts in Yunnan Province and vice chairman of the Ceramic Art Committee of the Yunnan Artists Association, and Tian Jing, a representative of the National People s Congress and inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Yunnan s purple clay craftsmanship. They focus on the protection and inheritance of Jianshui purple clay’s intangible cultural heritage.

Tianji Yao consistently upholds the traditional techniques of purple clay pottery, using ancient methods to prepare the clay and handcrafted techniques for shaping the pieces. Their artworks are characterized by exquisite handmade quality, rich kiln transformations, elegant forms, and a tranquil, ancient aesthetic that exudes a strong sense of traditional artistry. Works from Tianji Yao have been exhibited multiple times at prestigious places such as Rongbaozhai and international exhibitions. The Studio represents a harmonious integration of vitality and artistic spirit, as well as the beauty of traditional techniques and the inheritance of craftsmanship.
