Oriental life aesthetics conveys a design concept of “Respect for nature, love of mankind, care for living things, kindness and beauty to perfection”. It believes that each object is the carrier of life creation and of a cultural story. “The harmony between men and heaven, the Tao of nature, the best use of things, and making the ultimate beauty” is the philosophical premise of oriental life aesthetics. There are three issues in modern design that need to be focused on and solved, which are the harmony between man and man, man and nature, and man and objects. Oriental design considers that “utility is aesthetics and daily usage is the Tao”, and environment and designs compromise and integrate with each other, until they reach harmony between man and environment.
When creative design is the core value of industries and products, its guiding value becomes “objects for conveying truth and gathering beauty” rather than solely creating product values. Oriental design offers unique aesthetic pursuits and creative expressions to life styles by transferring good design into good life, which also matches the aesthetic requirements of a quality life. The philosophy of oriental design and the pursuit of modern western design is to modernize traditional life culture, better serve modern life styles, and provide consumers with rich and more diversified designed consumer goods. The common mission of eastern and western designers in the future is to create more natural and beautiful life styles. “Wisdom of Hearts and Crafts” is directed by this design concept to display diversified ecology of life aesthetics.
