Absolute Freedom and Infinite Void — Shao Yiyang on Yves Klein


On July 15th (Saturday) from 17:00 to 18:00, the Guardian Art Center is honored to invite Professor Shao Yiyang, a doctoral advisor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, to deliver a lecture titled “Absolute Freedom and Infinite Void: Shao Yiyang on Yves Klein”. The lecture will be held at Exhibition Hall No. 4 (“The Cosmos and Nature”) at the site of the “Yves Klein: Painter of Space” exhibition. This lecture will introduce the major representative works of Yves Klein, encompassing his paintings, sculptures, and performance art, and will explore the artistic movements, socio-political contexts, and philosophical ideas associated with his art, offering an interpretation of the stories behind the artwork.

邵亦杨Shao Yiyang

Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Vice Dean of the School of Humanities, Head of Western Art History Studies, Member of the Art Theory Committee of the China Artists Association, Committee Member of the International Committee of the History of Arts, Director of the China Oil Painting Society, and Executive Editor of the Visual Culture Series for Jiangsu Phoenix Fine Arts Publishing House. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Sydney in 2003, has served as a visiting professor at the University of Melbourne, and has chaired sessions and delivered academic presentations at the World Art History Congress and the Annual Conference of the Association of Historians of American Art. In 2019, she was awarded the International Chinese Contemporary Art Critics Award.
